Leos of Dehiwala East, Kalubowila, Polgasowita, Horana Metro, Moragahahena ,Vekanda, Colombo Circle, Mahanama College and Moratuwa - Ratmalana organized Leo Multiple Sports Meet 2010 on behalf of Leo Multiple District 306 Council at University of Colombo Grounds on 7th Marchr 2010. Everyone enjoyed the event to the max.

Congratulations to leos of District 306 A2 who Champions in the event.

Leo Beach Volleyball Tournament & DJ Night

The project can be also known as the rocking beach party + volleyball……There were over 100 LEOs participated in the event. The Leo Multiple District President also implemented on this occasion and many LEOs requested to hold the event as an annual event. LEOs enjoyed this sports tournament and luckily the LEO club of Piliyandala won the finals beating the LEOs of Egodawatta.

Another amazing joint project - Ama Dahara Darma Program

Leos of Dehiwala East, Werahara, Dampe, UoM, Mattegoda, Polgasowita and Kalubowila offered an alms giving to sil observers in the morning at Sunethra Devi Pirivena, Pepiliyana on 4th September 2009. All together we could give about 700 pieces of Milk Rice.

This was being broadcasted on Swaranawahini (Ama Dahara Daham Sabhawa) as a live programme. So Our District 306 A2 and Leoism got publicity in our country. Throug this programme, we could create an clear image about Leoism. What we can do to this world.

Very special thanks for all the leos, parents and friends who helped us in various ways in doing this programme.

Have you ever seen anyone bathing a beggar in today’s society?

You must have seen them feeding and entertaining. But have anyone thought of cleaning them other than feeding all the time?

Leos of Dehiwala East was so compassionated in doing such an amazing service project to the society. We should say that this is one of the greatest jobs that they have done in overall as they use to do these types of service projects to the society.

This service was taken place , 23rd of August 2009 at Pepiliyana junction around 9.30 am.

They could find four old male beggars from Dehiwela and Pepiliyana area that couldn’t even walk properly. They could bathe them, shave and give them a hair cut with clothes as well. Later on they fed them with home made lunch and pointed them to the Dr. Sameera Pathirana for a health check up .

Beggars were really happy and the twilight of their eyes said that they had given a home for sometimes. It was a great pleasure for the Leos as well and was very glad in taking part in an event like this.

The effects of smoking cigarettes seem fairly harmless at first. A lot of people see no reason not to try it for a little while, maybe just for a year, when you're young or at work to fit in. The problem with smoking is that it slowly creeps its way into, not only your life, but the lives of your family and friends. Its effects are dangerous and extremely painful, not only for those going through them, but those who have to sit and watch. And the worst part is, all the effects of cigarette smoke are avoidable; after all, it's a personal choice to smoke.

If you smoke you would have already noticed, it takes a massive toll on your physical capabilities by restricting your lung capacity. This is awful as you'll begin missing out on sport or recreational exercises and playing with your children or grandchildren. Don't forget, too, that your family will all be missing this time with you as well: no one wins. And it gets worse: emphysema and cancer are the eventual results of all that lung damage. These diseases will leave you, not just on the sidelines, but in a hospital bed.

The next level of damage is inflicted on those around you- everyone around you. From your coworkers to the waiter at your favorite restaurant, anyone who regularly comes in close contact with you and other smokers, even if they've never smoked in their life, is in danger from the effects of smoking. Tens of thousands of people die each year from second hand smoke. Fortunately, new laws have started to ban smoking in a lot of public places, helping those who work and play in our cafes, parks, museums, and bars. Perhaps the most tragic victims of second hand smoke, though, are not necessarily those who die from it after 30 or 40 years of exposure.

Children who have no choice but to breathe their parents' or grandparents' second hand smoke every day are at very great risk. Not only are their lungs getting just as dirty, but their developing bodies are at a high risk of being hindered in their growth. Kids' immune, respiratory, cardiovascular, and musculovascular systems are all on the chopping block in the face of second hand smoke, and they can't do anything about it; young children can't exactly move out and take are of them. If the effects of smoking don't stop today; future generations will feel the sting of your bad habits.

Quitting is a major consideration for those worried about the effects of smoking on, not only themselves, but loved ones around them. The future is at stake for thousands of friends and strangers, but more importantly, for entire generations. If you don't want strangers touching your baby or wouldn't approve of your five year old eating food off of the floor, why would you let them breathe in some of the dirtiest air imaginable every day? Quitting is difficult, but perhaps more difficult is having to watch those around you suffer for something they've never agreed to.

Leos in a Testing Phileria Project…

Leos of Dehiwala East proudly conducted a Phileria testing campaign on the 1^st of February, 2009 for the villagers of Pepiliyana. This was taken place at the Sunethra Devi Rajamaha Viharaya, Pepiliyana from 8pm to 10 pm.

Reasonable number of people has attended to this campaign on behalf of testing for Phileria.

This was another occasion which Leos of Dehiwala East proved their concern on Health projects.

Leos Celebrates the Independence Day….

Leo club of Dehiwala East celebrated the 61^st Independence Day

on the 4^th of February, 2009 at the Sunethra Devi Rajamaha Viharaya, Pepiliyana holding a

Bodi Poojawa aim of blessing the Defenses of Sri Lanka.

Leo and Lion members, parents and their friends participated this event with the villagers of Pepiliyana.

The Bodi poojawa was followed by a “Gilanpasa”.

It was great to see the interest in Leos of Dehiwala East while doing this project.

They lit lamps resembling the word Peace in Sinhala “Samaya”.

The oil lamps took the eye sight of the crowd.

It was a pleasure to see that the young generation spending their time on these types of works.

Leos in Eye Donation for the third time….

Leos of Dehiwala East proudly held their third eye donation service project at Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya– Dehiwala on Nawam full moon poyaday from 9am to 2pm.

It is a pleasure to say that they receive more than 200 of forms this time as well.

Leos in Eye Donation for the second time….

Leos of Dehiwala East proudly held their second eye donation service project at Siri Vajiranchana Darmayathana – Maharagama on Duruthu full moon poyaday From 9am to 2pm.

It is a pleasure to say that they have received more than 200 of forms from the second eye donation.

The program was successful with the effort of Leos of Dehiwala east.

They hope to do this as a continuous project whenever they can in every poya day.

They honor to all the people who support to make this event successful.

Thinking of child care nutrition on National Leo’s day and Children’s Day….

Once again Leos of Dehiwala East virtuously exaggerate the child care passion on National Leo’s day and Children’s day.

They nourish the school children with yogurt on behalf Leo National day with the support of all the Leos of Dehiwala East, with the fund they had raised during the past few months.

After seeing the twilight of the kid’s eyes, their hearts melt and gave the prospective idea of nourish the children at Noguchi Children’s home Pepiliyana.

Pirith sermon was held at Noguchi Children’s home followed with a tea time on behalf of Children’s day which was fallen on 25^th of January.

It was a pleasure to see the pleasing feeling of kids towards the Leos.

Dehiwala East Leo club Installation

Dehiwala East Leo club was installed on 16th of November 2008 with the guidance and the respective honor of Dehiwala East Lions club.
The installation ceremony was taken place in Glain restaurant Nugegoda.
All the Dehiwala East Lions club members, invitee Lions (District Director), other respective lion club members, Invited LEO s and parents of new LEOs participated the graceful event.

New President, Secretary, Vice Presidents, Treasurers and Directors were appointed and all the presented LEOs respected to the Sri Lankan flag with the pledge and became LEO members wearing the venerated LEO badges.

This is the second month of the new LEO club and we are very proud to say that, all our members were talented to win the Leo cricket award organized by the Leo club of University of Moratuwa .

I take this opportunity in thanking the president and the members of Lions club of Dehiwala East.
